COLREGs Compliant Fuzzy-Based Collision Avoidance System for Multiple Ship Encounters

As the number of ships for marine transportation increases with advancement global trade, encountering multiple in traffic becomes common. This situation raises risk collision ships; hence, this paper proposes a novel Fuzzy-logic based intelligent conflict detection and resolution algorithm, where courses possible avoiding actions are analysed by considering ship motion dynamics input output fuzzy membership functions derived. module, Collision Risk (CR) is measured each using scaled nondimensional Distance to Closest Point Approach (DCPA) Time (TCPA) as inputs. Afterwards, decisions avoidance made on calculated CR, angle relative from others. In regard, rules Fuzzy interface system defined accordance COLREGs, whole implemented MATLAB Simulink platform. addition, deal encounters, unique maximum-course minimum-speed change approach decision making, which has been found be efficient solve Imazu problems, other complicated multiple-ship encounters.
